About the Event
Dr. Sinem Mollaoglu is a Professor and the Program Director at the Construction Management Program in the School of Planning, Design, and Construction at the Michigan State University. She is a LEED® accredited and CGP designated professional. She received her Ph.D. degree from Penn State, Architectural Engineering in 2007 with her dissertation on high performance green building delivery.
Building up on her interdisciplinary background, she has been working towards her vision: “Contributing to the improvement of sustainable project delivery through investigation of team integration phenomenon and assessment systems for green built environments.” To date, she has led/co-led projects funded by public and private institutions including: National Science Foundation, Charles Pankow Foundation, National Association of Home Builders, National Academy of Sciences, Michigan Department of Transportation, and International Partnering Institute.
She has received several awards including Michigan State College of Agriculture and Natural Resource's '2020-2021 You Belong Here Award,' Association General Contractors of America's '2014 National Fellowship', National Association of Home Builders' 'National Educator of the Year Award, 2013' in outstanding junior faculty category, and 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence’s ‘Highly Commended Paper Award’ as the lead author with the paper titled: “Diffusion of Green Building Guidelines as Innovation in Developing Countries.” In 2016, she was recognized as the top contributing author to green building research.1
Her leadership roles in academia include serving on the editorial boards of:
- ASCE’s Journal of Construction Engineering and Management; and
- Engineering Project Organization Journal
Dr. Sinem is married and mother of two children: Ela and Kerem. She is a U.S. citizen with Mediterranean descent. She believes busy hands bring calm and creativity to the mind. Her go to activities for such state are drawing, knitting, gardening, and kite-flying.
